Chidi Ajaere is the son of Edwin Ajaere, who founded God Is Good Motors in 1998 in Benin City, Edo State, building it into Nigeria's first medium-size intercity bus transport fleet. In 2009, while Chidi was studying in Canada, his father was kidnapped and killed โ a tragedy that brought the 21-year-old back to Nigeria to take over the family business.
Rather than simply maintaining what his father had built, Ajaere modernised the company with technology, launching GIG Logistics in 2012 as a subsidiary of the GIG Group to provide courier and delivery services within Nigeria and internationally to the UK, US, China and other African countries. Under his leadership, the group expanded well beyond its original transport roots.
Today the GIG Group Ajaere chairs comprises GIG Mobility (formerly God Is Good Motors), GIG Logistics, GIG Aviation, Stella's Banking and Finance, Richmondhill Real Estate and Property, Ziuss Energy Oil & Gas, and Jet Motors, employing over 5,000 people across Nigeria and Ghana. GIG Logistics alone has become one of the continent's leading e-commerce and courier logistics providers.
- Built GIG Logistics into a leading pan-African courier and e-commerce logistics company
- Expanded the family business into aviation, finance, real estate and energy
- Grew the GIG Group to over 5,000 employees across Nigeria and Ghana
- Modernised intercity transport in Nigeria through GIG Mobility
- Crisis can accelerate readiness.. At 21, Ajaere had to step into full leadership under the most difficult circumstances, without the luxury of a gradual transition.
- Modernise the foundation, don't just maintain it.. Rather than simply preserving his father's bus company, he introduced technology and expanded into entirely new sectors.
- Diversification builds resilience.. Spreading the GIG Group across logistics, aviation, finance and energy reduced dependence on any single business line.
