📖 Biography

Vivian Yvonne Hunt was born in July 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio. She studied at Harvard College and then earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, and she holds both British and American citizenship.

Hunt built her career at the global consultancy McKinsey & Company, where she became a senior partner. She led its Pharmaceuticals and Medical Products practice in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and its EMEA life sciences work from 2007 to 2013, before taking on a wider leadership role.

In 2013 she was appointed Managing Partner of McKinsey's UK and Ireland offices, the firm's second-largest office, and served in the role for seven years until 2020. She sat on the firm's global board and became known for work on productivity, skills and technology, including a widely cited study on the United Kingdom's productivity puzzle in a digital age.

Hunt is a founding co-author of McKinsey's Diversity Matters reports, which found that diversity and inclusion are correlated with stronger financial performance, and she also contributed to Women Matter and The Power of Parity. In October 2020 she delivered a TED Talk on how businesses can serve everyone, not only shareholders.
